Part-time, Assistant Manager at Neighborly (25+ hrs/wk)
Neighborly is a small, consciously sourced home, gift and art shop in Wicker Park. We are looking to hire a part-time Assistant Manager to primarily work at our 1909 W Division St location. Duties include opening and closing the shop, greeting customers in the shop, assisting customers as they browse, checking customers out, restocking shelves and maintaining shop appearance. They will also have the important task of representing Neighborly and sharing the shop's story, as well as acting as an ambassador for the craftspeople whose products we carry.
We are looking for someone who can work the following hours, however this position has the potential to become full-time in the near future. Saturdays are required, however the weekday hours are somewhat flexible based on candidates availability.
Sunday 10:45a-5:15p (optional)
Additional hours will likely be available, based on availability.

> have a demonstrated interest in independently made products and/or the arts
> will excel in a small business working environment (the ambition to wear many hats and help out in any way)
> have a great attitude, especially when providing customer service
> are a quick learner and can think on your feet
> are organized and pay attention to details
At this job, you will be expected to:
> Offer exceptional customer service, greet every customer that comes to the shop, assist them with product information and recommendations, provide an easy and pleasant shopping and checkout experience.
> Learn in detail about our products, where and how they’re made and who they’re made by.
> Learn and become a wizard at using our POS system, Shopify, to checkout customers, perform returns, look up products and inventory, and add new products.
> Maintain shop to be clean and orderly with basic tasks like folding Tshirts, rearranging out of place products, sweeping, cleaning, dusting shelves, removing trash and recycling, etc.
> Unpack product; check products for damage or defects, check quantities packed or received against packing list (this is where attention to detail comes in!), tag and prep for display, merchandise on display or put in storage as needed.
> Restock shelves when items sell, similarly, replace artwork on wall/display as needed. Restock supplies for checkout.
> Assist owner with ongoing search for new products, following online blogs, trade magazines, social media, etc.
> Assist owner with coordinating staff schedules to cover retail hours. Delegate tasks to retail assistants.
> Establish checks to notify manager when inventory of a product is low.
> Assist owner with monthly record keeping and accounting.
> Possibly assist with off-site special events as they resume.
