Transportation

The Transportation Committee meets the second Thursday of every month, 8:30 a.m. in the WPB office, 1414 N. Ashland Ave.*

*Meetings are occasionally rescheduled, please check to confirm meeting times.

The committee strives to foster multi-modal mobility and circulation along WPB’s corridors. We are proud to be advocates for all forms of active transportation in WPB.

This summer, we are working with the Chicago Dept. of Transportation (CDOT) on targeted improvements along Milwaukee Avenue. Bike boxes, curb bumpouts, two slip lane closures (Damen/Milwaukee & Ashland/Milwaukee), and two new crosswalks at Milwaukee/North/Damen are just some of the improvements! To find out more, please see CDOT's latest public presentation

Considering Milwaukee Ave aka “the hipster highway”- an often narrow yet heavily traveled bike route- cuts right through our neighborhood, safety is a big concern of ours. We have created window clings to remind both drivers and passengers to remember to look for bikers before opening car doors. Look for these stickers around the neighborhood or stop by our office to pick one up.

Also, be on the lookout for businesses with this in their window - it means they are supportive of biking and understand the value being bicycle-friendly brings to our neighborhood.
