Neighborhood Safety Rebate Program

WPB SSA #33 and the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce are committed to continually improving neighborhood safety and quality-of-life. In February 2017, the old Graffiti Abatement Program was upgraded to the new NEIGHBORHOOD SAFETY REBATE PROGRAM.

The Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods have experienced graffiti damage, particularly through acid etching on glass surfaces. Acid etching is not easily removed, and often requires that the glass be replaced. In order to reduce the amount of graffiti that is found on storefronts and other buildings in the neighborhood, WPB sponsors rebates to help pay for the cost of repairing or replacing glass damaged by acid etching, and to help pay for the cost of installing anti-graffiti film to protect glass from damage.

Additionally, businesses and building owners in SSA #22 are now eligible to apply for rebates for installing exterior security cameras, exterior lighting, and repairing broken windows & installing anti-smash film.

WPB will reimburse 50% of the cost of one or more of these neighborhood safety "measures", to a maximum of $1,000 per measure annually, per location.

Owners and tenants of tax-contributing commercial or residential property located on Ashland, Milwaukee, Western, North, Damen, & Division, as defined on the map, are eligible for neighborhood safety rebates. If a tenant wishes to apply for assistance, they must have express written consent from the property owner to conduct graffiti removal or prevention services, install security cameras, etc.
