Graffiti Abatement Program

The Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods have experienced extensive graffiti damage, particularly through acid etching on glass surfaces. Acid etching is not easily removed, and often requires that the glass be replaced. In order to reduce the amount of graffiti that is found on storefronts and other buildings in the neighborhood, WPB is sponsoring a Graffiti Abatement Program to help pay for the cost of repairing or replacing glass damaged by acid etching, and to help pay for the cost of installing anti-graffiti film to protect glass from damage.

WPB will reimburse 50% of the cost of graffiti prevention, and the cost of glass repair or replacement, to a maximum of $1,000 per location per year, whichever is less.

Owners and tenants of tax-contributing commercial or residential property located on Ashland, Milwaukee, Western, North, Division, as defined on the map are eligible for graffiti abatement funds. If a tenant wishes to apply for assistance, they must have express written consent from the property owner to conduct graffiti removal or prevention services.
