Green Music Fest 2017 Was a Sustainable Success

Green Music Fest 2017 People Powered Stage
- 76% MORE energy was generated by the cyclists at the people powered stage in 2017 than 2016, thanks to the many community groups recruited by the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, who stepped up to the plate, or shall we say the pedal!

- 3,124.5 watt hours were generated — enough to keep the music flowing, or charge 300 iPhones!

- 76% of attendees use of sustainable (active or shared) transportation methods to the festival. Details can be found in the table below:

Resource Recovery

- 200 MORE pounds of compostable material - from paper plates to wooden forks to food scraps - was recovered to create nutrient rich soil in 2017 than in 2016 (960 pounds and 760 pounds respectively).

- Refillable Stainless Steel Cups Cup, a new initiative in 2017, reduced the volume of single use cups collected for recycling by nearly 55%. (460 pounds in 2016 to 210 in 2017)
