#2 A Greener Festival: Highly Commended Award

Continuing its mission of making sure Wicker Park get its party on while serving as a platform to educate and inspire attendees to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle, Green Music Fest took on the challenge of applying for the A Greener Festival Award in 2016, and delving into all aspects of event operations and critically thinking about environmental impacts. On-site festival production and sustainability programming was evaluated by a well-traveled, eco-expert, and an extensive, nearly 200-line item self-assessment, was submitted for verification. Green Music Fest's Highly Commended Award is a result of A Greener Festival's comprehensive sustainability framework, the unyielding support of Festival Founder, Robert Gomez, and leadership of Sustainability Program partner, Bright Beat.

 Claire O'Neill, A Greener Festival Co-Founder:

"Green Music Fest's Highly Commended Award signifies a well-managed environmentally aware festival, which has taken significant steps to reduce waste, reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and engage their audience in the process."

"For Green Music Fest to achieve this level of accolade in their first year's application to the awards is really remarkable."

Robert Gomez, Green Music Fest Founder:

"Being 'Highly Commended' by A Greener Festival really validates Green Music Fest's environmentally sustainable and socially responsible practices and, we hope, inspires other local festivals to consider doing the same."

Stephanie Katsaros, Green Music Fest Sustainability Director and Bright Beat Founder:

"It is a privilege to be recognized by industry peers who live and breathe festivals, sustainability, and music, and to accept the Best of the Fest Music Sustainability award on behalf of Green Music Fest."
