LINK Up Illinois
A program of the Experimental Station in partnership with Wholesome Wave & Illinois Farmers Market Association
The Experimental Station seeks to increase the affordability and accessibility of nutritious foods sold at Illinois farmers markets for low-income Illinoisans, rebuilding linkages between local agriculture producers and consumers. LINK Up Illinois is a program that helps achieve this goal by providing farmers markets across the state with funding for Double Value Coupon incentive programs for LINK Card (Illinois's SNAP program, formerly known as "food stamps") shoppers. LINK Up Illinois also provides participating markets with training and technical assistance for implementing these programs successfully.
City of Chicago Dept. of Cultural Affairs and Special Events
The Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce is assuming full responsibility for market operations in 2015. In past years, the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) has operated the market, but is now passing this and other markets to community associations. This way, DCASE can direct its own market resources toward the City’s food deserts.
