With all this gorgeous weather the neighborhoods are hoppin'! And just like some of the area bars our arts guide is one-in-one-out with a show opening for every show coming to a close and several ongoing exhibitions and special events happening.
Start your weekend early on Thursday evening with some events for the bookworms out there. Nick Drnaso launches Sabrina with Jessica Campbell at Quimby's Bookstore at 7:00pm and Volumes Bookcafe discusses toxic masculinity by asking Am I Man Enough? from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
Friday is our opening night for neighborhood exhibitions. ARC Gallery will hold an opening reception from 6:00pm to 9:00pm for their new shows Artists from Bulgaria, Joan d'Arcambal, and Susan Smith Trees. Firecat Projects opens their new show Vito Desalvo: Back and Forth with a reception from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. And Challengers Comics will have a signing with Megan Rose Gedris for Spectacle from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Saturday and Sunday are a little slower with two exhibitions coming to a close. Brian Calvin: Pressing On and Barbara Rossi: Slippers at Corbett vs. Dempsey close on Saturday and Bucktown Gallery will host a closing reception for Counter Culture: Hidden Stories of Chicago Past and Present from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on Sunday.
Ongoing exhibitions and shows throughout the neighborhood include Monster and The Smile Behind the Mask at Heaven Gallery; Bringing Sexy Back at Jackson Junge Gallery; Moments in Between at LVL3; Mel Cook & Molly Colleen O'Connell- Mother of the Clown with Clothilde Cook- Ascension Turns In On Itself in the Window Gallery at Roots & Culture; and David Heo: These Nights at Young Chicago Authors.
