May is in full swing and so are the arts in Wicker Park and Bucktown! We've got a full weekend of openings and special events for you to check out, so read up and make your plans!

Jackson Junge Gallery kicks off the weekend arts events with an opening reception for their exhibition Bringing Sexy Back from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Bucktown Gallery will also host an opening reception for their exhibition Counter Culture: Hidden Stories of Chicago's Past and Present from 6:00pm to 10:30pm. Young Chicago Authors holds a reception and auction for These Nights from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. Sideshow Gallery adds their Flora Fauna Group Art Show to the docket from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. Robert K. Elder shares memories form The Mixtape of My Life at Quimby's Bookstore at 7:00pm. And you can catch the Always Crashing: Issue One Launch at Volumes Bookcafe from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

For the younger crowd and others interested, Escape Artistry's Time Gallery is putting on their Scratch Day 2018 event with a Cardboard Challenge from 10:30am to 2:30pm. Saturday is the last chance to swing by Roots & Culture to catch Dan Miller & Aaron Walker - Handkerchiefs and Flowers with Carolina Poveda - Whispering into the Shell in the Window Gallery before they come to a close. No Nation Art Gallery and Tangential Unspace Lab will be in collaboration with a space in Zurich to hold Stereoskap VI - Utopian Blessed Monkey That Sings From The Volcanic Depths Inside Your Eye on Saturday night from 7:00pm to 3:00am. On the more literary side of things, Chris Robe presents Breaking the Spell: A History of Anarchist Filmmakers, Videotape Guerrillas, and Digital Ninjas at Quimby's Bookstore at 7:00pm. And Myopic Books will host their Poetry Reading with Vyt Bakaitis and Charles Stein at 7:00pm.
