Weekend Arts Guide (4/12-4/15 2018)

Our mid-April Wicker Park Bucktown Weekend Arts Guide has seen a bit of a shift for this weekend! We're getting things started early in the neighborhood this go-around and have nearly a dozen featured ongoing exhibitions.
We kick off the weekend early on Thursday with an exciting party and opening reception for Music/Moments/Muses: The Work of Timothy Hiatt at Bucktown Gallery. The event will feature cocktails from Egan's Irish Whiskey and a raffle for a free print by the artist. The show is up for one week only, so catch it while you can!
Friday starts out with another Worker Bee Bag Read Along Crochet Along at FireFly Fiber Arts Studio from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, and again every Friday in April. Jackson Junge Gallery will begin their two day Stephani B Jewelry Trunk Show on Friday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Further down Milwuakee, Roots & Culture opens their new exhibition Dan Miller & Aaron Walker - Handkerchiefs and Flowers with Carolina Poveda: Whispering into the Shell in the Window Gallery by hosting a reception from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
Saturday sees the continuation of the Stephani B Jewelry Trunk Show at Jackson Junge Gallery from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Corbett vs. Dempsey makes a highlight of the afternoon with their Concert: David Grubbs book reading and solo performance starting at 3:00pm. Both galleries each have two ongoing exhibitions worth seeing when you hit up these special events. Close out the evening at Gallery Cafe with their Chicago Paint & Sip Night from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Tickets are available for $20 and cover art supplies for the night.
Sunday is a great day to make sure you've filed your taxes! If you've already received your return and need an excuse to spend it, stop by Jackson Junge Gallery for Tax Free Day and join the ranks of the Chicago art collectors at a discount. Both ARC Gallery and LVL3 have Sunday open gallery hours on Sunday with excellent shows on view.
Continuing exhibitions up around the neighborhoods include The Grouch And The Brainstorm by Philip Campbell at AdventureLand Works on Paper; nitty-gritty: Northern Illinois Univeristy's MFA Thesis Exhibition at ARC Gallery; Margot Bergman: Thank you for having me and Christina Forrer at Corbett vs. Dempsey; Cornered, Fission Fusion, and Night Brings Day/Day Brings Night at Heaven Gallery; RED and Irena Saparnis: Possibility of Flying at Jackson Junge Gallery; and Systems at Play at LVL3 Gallery.
